Monica Leigh Daggett

Written November of 1998

Her birthday is January 10, Monica is 5 and in Kindergarten at the Meadowlark School here in Acton.  When she was a baby Calie couldn't say Monica so she called her Mokie, it stuck and now everyone calls her Mokie.  Mokie came to us when she was 22 days old,  suffice to say, birth was not a real positive experience for her, she had a rough time.

Mokie is not a girlie kind of girl.  When her sisters are inside playing with dolls she is outside hunting lizards with her brothers.  She hates frilly feminine stuff. We had to get her prettied up for a school picture and she wouldn't wear a dress unless we let her wear Levi's and a T-shirt under it.  The after school care lady said she took off the dress and threw it on the floor of the bus on the way to "Kids World".   She prefers boy stuff to girl stuff. For Halloween her sisters were a Witch (Cindy), an Angel (Calie), and a Ballerina (Autumn) and Mokie was Spiderman, cracks me up.  Last year she was a Ninja .....

Mokie is doing well in school and seems to respond to hands on learning.  She has the attention span of a puppy and can't sit still for even a minute.

(Picture is of Monica at soccer practice November 2000)

Mokie has a very deep voice for a little girl, I called her Ernie for a while but I was the only one that thought that was funny ...... I like Mokie a lot, not an ounce of pretense, what you see is what you get with Da Moke....

Mokieisms

Mom was holding Mokie by window... Mokie said "Mom, turn off the window, it's hot."

"Mom, I need some edible audits..."

"Edible Audit's?"

"Yeah, I have a cut on my foot and I need edibleaudits!!!"

Ahhh Antibiotics...

Monica... was trying to show up Calie...she said "Do you know your 12 Commandments?!?! Huh DO YOU!!! Do you know the story of Jesus and Goliath?!?" Huh... Do ya... Huh!. Christy had to leave the room she was laughing so hard...

2003

Monica is in 4th grade, she is struggling academically but she has lots of friends. She's still an independent thinker and won't take any guff off anyone

2005

Monica is enrolled at the Adventist School two towns north of here, this is her second year there, it seems like it took her a long time to her acclimated but she is doing well there now. Her best friend is Melanie and they talk on the phone every day for hours and hours. I can only hear Monica's end of the conversation and it makes absolutely no sense to me... they babble about nothing in particular from the minute she gets home from school till I pry the phone out of her hand at night.

Monica found this page a couple days ago and has been reading it aloud to her friend... they are laughing... Cool.

I love you Monica... I always will.
