was born August 4th 1991, she came to us on the third day of her life. She was a stoic little brown "Michelin Man", she was the fattest little baby I have ever seen, even the rolls of fat had rolls of fat, I was instantly smitten with her. (Christy says she wasn't fat, but I have pictures) I can remember laying on the couch looking at her asleep on my chest and thinking what a perfectly beautiful little person she is, and how could we possibly be so lucky. She was "Daddy's Girl" from day one.
Calie is a go-getter, she has energy to burn, ( At the moment she is doing jumping jacks while she is telling Mom about her day at school ). She helps around the house and dances and sings and puts on shows. Calie talks a mile a minute, her monologues are amazing; I will try to paraphrase one:
"My friend Catrise brought her rabbit to school and told us all about him his name is Robert, he is white but he has brown ears, Catrise goes to dance class, can I go to dance class Daddy? they learned to tap dance and I can tap dance do you want to see, (starts tap dancing on the rug) no wait I have to be in the kitchen because the rug doesn't make any noise. Is this good .... (It's adorable, but not good)........"
She will start dance class next week, Thursday.
School is not easy for her but she works hard and is near the top of her class. Her teacher, Mrs. Nora, thinks Calie is an exceptional student. She is a pretty good athlete too. I kept her out of soccer this year but I will probably get her involved again next year. I don't know why I like this picture so much, I took it as she got out of the pool at Aunt Pat's house. She was tired and cold I guess it's just that it was an unguarded moment, one of the few pictures I have of her not smiling.
