Deceive boys with toys, but men with oaths.

Shakespeare

We decided that even though the van would be more comfortable, it is fourteen years old and gets lousy mileage, it also has flaky AC and a couple other minor flaws. So, we decided she should take her Taurus, it's got more miles on it but it's six years younger, I took it in to T&J for a checkup and then to Affordable Tire we decided to get new tires, I had to take it into Palmdale to get the front end aligned... the car is in good shape.

I have tried to watch the Republican Convention three times, it is a John Kerry Bashing Fest... they are perpetuating the lies and distortions put forth by SBVFT and their ilk, even though every accusation they made has proven to be false. They talk about Kerry's voting record by totally distorting reality. It just galls me to sit here and not be able to rebut their allegations. One lie after another and the talking heads ignore it ... Liberal Media my ass.

I and the public know.

What all schoolchildren learn.

Those to whom evil is done.

Do evil in return

W.H. Auden, poet (1907-1973)

I watched Cheney's performance last night, I shouldn't have, my stomach has been upset all day... I expected to hear the lies and slimy innuendo but the relentlessness banging away at Kerry and everything he stands for made me so angry I was yelling at the TV set... not good. I believe Kerry is a good man, I think that he made a few mistakes in the past but for that lying old crook to stand up there and preach morality at me just made my blood boil. By demeaning Kerry's Ideals he demeans mine. By saying that Kerry is wrong he is calling me wrong, by calling Kerry a traitor he is calling me and everyone else that stands with him a traitor. I watched all the bright shiny (white) faces in the 'pit' at the convention quivering with glee at every sneering remark. I missed Zell Miller... thank god... I probably would have put my foot through the TV. I heard excerpts from his tirade, he sounded like a Klansman whipping up the crowd for a lynching... He misquoted and maligned Kerry relentlessly. Miller is the sort of Democrat that I remember from the 50's. intolerant, bigoted, fat-cat Democrat in the Huey Long style..,  Seems like since they can't praise Bush's accomplishments they have to run Kerry's down. Kerry's 20 year voting record is being misrepresented incessantly if anyone would take the time to actually look at what he voted for and against they would see that the lies being told by the Republicans are outrageous.

I watched GW toinght & Pataki before him... Bush gave a good speech, Pataki sounded like Mr Rogers's evil twin, sarcastic and sneering. He wants to run against Hillary in 2008... gag.

I'd like to hear something like this from Kerry:

  1. A real leader doesn't have to scare people into following him.

  2. A real leader takes care of all his people, not just a chosen few.

  3. A real leader gets things done through consensus building, not brow beating.

  4. A real leader doesn't need to stage photo ops to pump up his image.

  5. A real leader is not afraid of the truth.

  6. A real leader doesn't blame others when things don't go well.

  7. A real leader doesn't start something without a plan for finishing it.

  8. A real leader gathers information from a variety of sources, not just a few insiders.

  9. A real leader earns the respect of even those who disagree with him.

  10. A real leader is able to admit when he makes a mistake and change course.

  11. A real leader doesn't distort the truth in order to get his way.

  12. A real leader doesn't make decisions in secret.

  13. A real leader doesn't denounce and slander those who question him.

On September 11, America needed a leader. Bush was all we had. The GOP mistakes bluster, bullying, and bravado for leadership. Sometimes what looks like "strong and determined" is really just inability to deal with complexity, refusal to consider alternatives, and unwillingness to accept reality. Well, here's the reality. Bush is finished as a world leader. 75 to 80 percent of the people of the world hate him. Heads of state who support him or cooperate with him do so at their own political peril. When he travels overseas, he is a pariah. Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, even Reagan were effective internationally because they were respected. When Bush sent Colin Powell to lie to the United Nations about Iraq's WMD, he lost whatever respect he had. Abu Ghraib has just made it worse.

This is the message the Democrats need to get across to anyone who is still undecided. The rest of the world is not undecided about Bush. They hate him. And if we re-elect him, they will hate us.

And to Senator Zell Miller I say:

Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion.

Dwight David Eisenhower (1890-1969), 34th US President

I saw more of Zell Miller's speech last night, what a hateful old man he is, why would anyone put that ghoulish hatemonger in the Keynote Speaker role. The Keynote Speaker is supposed to define the what party is all about. He or she is supposed to say all the things that the President wants to say, the speech is always approved by the powers behind the throne. So listen carefully to Zig Zag Zell, he is the spokesman for the opposition...if that doesn't scare the b'jesus out of the country then nothing will.

John Stewart interviewed John McCain and asked him what he thought of Zell Millers Speech, McCain said; "I think Kerry must have just shot his [Zell's] dog."

George read his Pollyanna speech. It is so predictable, they put the rabid dogs out on the stage while while GW gets to come out after the carnage and pretend he's above it all. Like his 'condemnation' of the Swifties, he waited over a week to speak out, but that time the slime ad had been on every TV network and discussed on every radio station... Every powerful leader, be it business or politics has a lightening rod to take the pressure off, Bush has a bunch of them, it amazes me that he can find so many scapegoats and loyal followers willing to take the heat he generates.

I wrote to a cousin in England about how I felt that George Orwell's world is here now, not as he had imagined it exactly, but here none the less. Our Schools are designed to impress Bureaucrats not teach Children, We are still killing and maiming innocent civilians in Iraq to liberate them from a Tin Pot Dictator that has been out of commission for a year... Dissent is being condemned in the media by the minions of powerful businessmen who want an obedient [cowering, intimidated] unquestioning population. The President's supporters are telling horrendous blatant lies about Kerry and then accusing him of being "Thin skinned" when he fights back. ...it's an Alice in Wonderland World... I am frightened for the country if Bush gets re elected... he replied:

Small consolation, but you are not alone. Most of the rest of the world is scared stiff of the Shrub getting another 4 years. The carnage and mayhem he could cause in that time are probably beyond our/anyone's understanding and it will end up hurting everyone, including his own - very doubtful and totally sordid - friends/cronies.

We have been watching the Convention in NY and looking at the rows of brainwashed zombies waving their little flags and ridiculous banners and cheering brain-dead fools like Chaney & Schwarzenegger etc. to the rafters makes me wonder if the rest of the world shouldn't put a total embargo on everything to do with the US until such times as you get some sanity back into high places - if ever!

Blair is still in trouble here. He is trying to "re-direct" matters back to the domestic front, but even then Iraq pops up out of the woodwork. For example, he claims that while there have been improvements to the health service here, the Govt. can't afford to do everything it wants to. True enough, but it could have done a lot more if it wasn't pouring billions of £ of taxpayer's money into the sands of Iraq.

The [F] idiot still doesn't realise! We don't want our money wasted on a bunch of barbaric towelheads or polishing up the Shrub's ego. There is too much that really needs doing here.

The Opposition and 3rd party (Conservative and Lib-Dems) are still not making the impact we need and we also may end up with the unimaginable hell of another term of Blair.

We would like to apologize for the way in which politicians are represented in this program. It was never our intention to imply that politicians are weak-kneed political time-servers who are more concerned with their personal vendettas and private power struggles than with the problems of government. Nor to suggest at any point that they sacrifice their credibility by denying free debate on vital matters, in the mistaken impression that party unity comes before the well-being of the people they supposedly represent. Nor to imply at any stage that they are squabbling little toadies without an ounce of concern for the vital social problems of today. Nor indeed do we intend that the viewers should consider them as crabby, ulcerous, little self-seeking vermin with furry legs and an excessive addiction to alcohol and certain explicit sexual practices which some people might find offensive. We are sorry if this impression has come across.

MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS

Christy is not packed there is nothing loaded in the car, she has gone to bed, she is leaving for a month tomorrow morning. Incredible.

It is definitely demoralizing to see the polls after the Republican Convention. The realization that Kerry would lose this election if the polls opened tomorrow is very disheartening... The hate directed at John Kerry from the Republican hate-mongers is palpable, the level to which George Bush is despised by the Democrats is equally unnerving. I can't imagine how Kerry is going to fight them off. What gets me is that they tell blatant lies about Kerry's war record and his voting record, Kerry and his supporters rebut the lies with the truth and show up the liars with facts and hard proof and the lies just keep coming. The country is letting the Republicans define Kerry and the Media is playing along with them. They parrot the lies from the Swifties even after the lies have been debunked. It infuriates me to hear reporters say Kerry is not responding to the accusations of the Swifties, when Kerry is screaming his head off about their lies and the reporters aren't covering it. Kerry has not contradicted himself ever, he hs always voted with his conscience. Kerry is also, almost single-handedly, responsible for taking down BCCI To imply that he accomplished nothing is unbelievable slander!

Oldie:

A Politician was once asked about his attitude toward whiskey. "If you mean the demon drink that poisons the mind, pollutes the body, desecrates family life, and inflames sinners, then I'm against it."

"But if you mean the elixir of Christmas cheer, the shield against winter chill, the taxable potion that puts needed funds into public coffers to comfort little crippled children, then I'm for it."

"This is my position, and I will not compromise!"

Christy left at about 1000 to Riverside to pick up Grandma and Grandpa, from there she is going to her sister Suzie's home in Henderson to spend the night, Hopefully she will get an early start for Denver on Monday... that's a long haul.

I am going to take the kids to the Antelope Valley Fair about 1500....

... I forgot what a ripoff the Fair is... It's even worse than last year... $3 to park, $34 to get us all into the fairgrounds, Big sign at the gate said Rides $1.00 a ticket, So I was a big spender and bought 40 tickets for $25 (discounted if you buy 40), what a deal!!! 40 tickets divided by 5 kids is 8 tickets a kid equals 8 rides, right? Wrong... what the sign didn't say is that the cheapest lamest ride was 3 tickets and the "Big" lame rides were 5 tickets... sooo $62 later I arrived home, that's after getting hit up at Arby's for $28...

Christy left Riverside about 1300 and I reached her just as she was pulling into Suzie's driveway about 1730... the trip was uneventful so far.
