The decent moderation of today
will be the least of human things tomorrow. At the time of the Spanish
Inquisition, the opinion of good sense and of the good medium was certainly that
people ought not to burn too large a number of heretics; extreme and
unreasonable opinion obviously demanded that they should burn none at all.

Christy's Birthday today, I took her, Christian & Calie to The Olive Garden for
lunch, it was very nice, though also very filling. After lunch I took her over to Wal-Mart to get some stuff to
give the kids to give back to her, it is complicated but it works, the kids get
to give her stuff and she gets what she wants.
I talked to Landis Kent about my little Septic problem... he says I can
get it done for about half what I have been quoted... we'll see. I may have to
hire someone to dig the hole but I can order the septic tank and all the rock,
sand, pipe myself.
Saying goodbye, why is it
said? Makes us remember the good times we've had. Much more to say, foolish to
try.

Give me a whisper, give me
a sigh, give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye;
And please remember, that
I never lied. and please remember how I felt inside.

There will be a Mass for Loretta (Lettie) Bowman today, I had intended to drive
over there for the Funeral but I will have to stay home and run the taxi service
today because
Christy's brother, Ken, died at 0430 last night.
Christy will be driving to Riverside at 0800. I ordered some flowers to be sent
to her mothers house... (I ordered them at 0800, I called at 1700, they said
they were being delivered at that moment)... well that didn't happen... the
bimbo lied to me... damn it... it is now 2230 and they still haven't been
delivered. 2100, Christy called to say she is on her way home...

 | Delivery Date: 05/14/2002 |
COMMENTS
I ordered flowers sent to my in-laws in condolence for the loss of their
son at 0800, it was to be delivered today. I called at 17:00 to see why it
still had not been delivered and was assured that the delivery was being made
as we spoke... it is now 22:30 and still not there... please tell me what the
problem is and why I wasn't informed there was a problem.
I
got the kids to school, Christy dropped Cindy off at school and took Christian
with her, Christy was more upset than I thought she would be.. the family has
had a long time to prepare for this. I feel bad for them, Kenny got what he has
been working for all his short life.
Jerry bought the tickets for this weekend's race in Sacramento... and Bill Bohte
wrote to give me information on his whereabouts... I am looking forward to the
weekend...
Hempel's Paradox
A
purple cow is a confirming instance of the hypothesis that all crows are black.
Well... this bothered me... but I don't see the paradox... If all crows are
black then all non-black things are not crows, but the opposite is not true...
Death is not the greatest
loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside of us while we live.

... Christy went to Riverside, Suzie is coming in again from Los Vegas
(Henderson) not sure why... Ken is at the crematorium. Christy took Christian
and Calie with her.
(Loose-end,
added 5/16/2002) The flowers were delivered to the wrong address, the guy that
they were delivered to came home from work and realized the the mistake and
walked them over to my in-laws place...
I got a call from Mike's school, they
caught him with with another one of my jack-knifes and a baggie with six of
Christian's Ritalin pills... I no sooner
start
to relax my guard because he is behaving so well then he blind-sides me with
this crap. Mike has been a limitless source of disappointment to me. Mike has
absolutely no impulse control... not an ounce.
Mike seems to be totally unconcerned
with the trouble he is in, completely oblivious. In the way home he said "Hey
Dad, can we stop at the 'Guitar Center'".
I got Autumn's school pictures
today... Christy and Calie put her hair up in 'Soft Curlers" the night before
and I think the Aide at school probably fluffed it up a bit more... she sure
looks cute.
It may be that your sole
purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Christy was home most all day with a Migraine
headache... we tried Vicodin with no effect, I went to the market and found some
Excedrin - 'Migraine' and either the Migraine just ran it's course or it
worked... because she was able to get up and teach at 1800...
The kids are OK... they behaved pretty good,
Mike is still defiant and seemingly unconcerned about the potential
ramifications of Tuesdays lapse in good judgment.
I started scanning a bunch of my Moms old
pictures... the plan is to get them all on a CD so I can share
Tongue: A variety of meat,
rarely served because it clearly crosses the line between a cut of beef and a
piece of dead cow.

Today I have to get ready for the ride to
Sacramento... I haven't figured out what my plans are for the trip back yet, I
will probably try to get
a couple hundred miles in Sunday night and then get a room for the night so I
can get home early enough to get the kids from school... I won't be updating
this till Monday.
I have been asking around about Septic Systems again, the guy I had called
originally (Paul from the other side of the valley) said he would call back in
the morning, that was last Monday... I have asked 6 people who I should call and
four of them said Lowell Hilsinger... I will call him on Monday...
Cindy and "B" went to the 7th Grade Dance... Cindy sat with some friends but
"B" went out to dance... they laughed at him... I don't know who 'they' are
but this makes me pretty angry... he used to get applause at Devereux when he
danced...

cannot hear what you say to the contrary.

I
got out of here at 0723 the ride up to Sacramento was fine, lots of stops for
gas but the ride up was very nice... it was a little cool which surprised me. I
had to put on a jacket, I found Jerry's place by accident, I'm not sure I could
do that again. He lives in a maze, I think you have to be born there to find
your way around. Every time we left the place we took off in a different
direction and we arrived from a different direction.
Jerry met me at the door with weird music on, wearing a hooded alb, barefoot,
(His imitation of a Druid) It is a long story but we have a long running joke
about religion and he, at one time, claimed to be a "Tree Druid" which cracked
me up.
He
had Rush Limbaugh on the radio (Taped) and a picture of Richard (I am not a
crook) Nixon on the bureau... Jerry... anything to make me feel at home... Jerry
has a perverse sense of humor...
I
called My other friends, Bill and Sandy Bohte, and we arranged to meet at a
place called "The Cliff House" overlooking the American River... lovely place...
Just before we got there we were pulling away from the light at
an intersection that has two
mandatory left turn lanes the guy nect to me was parked waiting for a left turn
arrow and I hear a SKREEEEEEEEEECH Skrunchhhh right next to me. A lady in an
small SUV figured the green light meant her and didn't even slow down the tire
squeal was only a split second... That night I had a hard time sleeping
thinking that that could have been Jerry and I on our bikes that she hit... I
wish I could have seen whether or not she was on a cell phone. I am convinced
that cell phone use needs to be regulated... people can't talk and drive.
Everyone has a cell phone story to tell.
The
lunch went OK we had a nice chat had an interesting lunch prime rib sliders...
pretty good, could have been better...
Jerry and I went back to his place talked a little... argued a little... watched
a Bruce Willis movie and went to bed. I was tired but I couldn't sleep... I
don't know why.
Sunday May 19 , 2002
We got up early and went to the race track...
it was a bit better run than Glen Helen but still pretty much a joke as far as
parking was concerned. We wandered around, watched some practice and qualifying
heats... we got a seat in the "Shaded bleachers" .
The
real racing started at 1300, James "Bubba" Stewart absolutely devastated the
competition... he is without fear and so comfortable on his bike he seems to be
in sort of altered state, like in a trance, he is like mercury on glass...other
guys trying to keep up with him look out of control and inexperienced by
comparison... and they aren't they are excellent riders, Bubba is just that much
better than they are... the same goes for Ricky Carmichael in spades... at some
point Bubba will move up from 125cc class and race Ricky on 250's it will be
spectacular to see, I sort of wish they would never have to race one-another.
Bubba won his race by 19 seconds, and won his by 23 seconds... that is unheard
of. After the second Moto we had to leave it had dropped to about 45 degrees and
we were freezing, it had been over a hundred a few days earlier... as we were
walking to our bikes it started to sprinkle a little, by the time we had reached
the bikes it was raining... by the time we reached the road it was pouring... we
got drenched, it's a good thing he only lived a little over ten miles from
here... after throwing my wet stuff in the dryer we read about the rest of the
race on the Virtual Grandstand at CycleNews's site... Jerry drove over to his
favorite Mexican fast food joint (pretty good food) and headed home. I watched
the front till it moved through on the Internet then I jumped on my scooter and
headed south as fast as I could go because there was another front right behind
it... Jerry said this morning that it really rained hard a few hours later... I
made it to Fresno and got a Motel 6 room for the night, I couldn't keep my eyes
open any longer... I fell asleep about 2130 ....
