...With Christy, Christian and Autumn gone the morning went pretty smooth... More construction on the way to school... stupid construction too... a huge road grinding machine dug a trench about a foot deep for about a quarter of a mile down Crown Valley Road... the machine dumped the ground up road into trucks and the trucks took it out to where they are working on the freeway and dumped it. once the trench was dug they filled it back in and prepped it to be paved... I have no idea what they are doing or why they are doing it... I asked the flag girl and she said helpfully; "I think they are digging a trench" I said "Thank you."
... I drove by Meadowlark school three times today there was a young woman in an orange vest sitting in a lawn chair from about 10:00 till I went to pick up Monica at 14:30.. I got there about 15 minutes early... I picked up Monica and headed out to Santiago Road and traffic was stopped... the girl in the orange safety vest and her buddy down toward town had blocked traffic in both directions... they couldn't take a 20 minute coffee break while school let out... they waited till 14:40 to start with the road grinding machine... this is the fifth or sixth time in the past two weeks that they have blocked traffic for the beginning or ending of school... I am beginning to think they are doing it on purpose...
Christy got home about 16:30, then she turned around and went shopping at 1800 and got back about 20:00. I watched another movie, "There's something about Mary"... it was a little crude in parts but a lot funnier than I had expected it would be...
Christian was up till 23:00 and it is now midnight thirty and Mike is having trouble sleeping... I am concerned about his nightmares... he dreams about being crushed... he dies in his dreams... poor kid. We have an appointment with the psychiatrist...

...I went down to Denny's and had lunch with an old friend, Laslo E.. Laslo came here from Hungary by way of the revolution, Germany & New England. He is one of the better motorcyclists I have ever ridden with and the best pool player I have ever played... he is also politically of the opinion that Attila the Hun and Vlad the Impaler were a couple of wimpy pacifists. He's really the personification of a conservative... thinks Bush is a wimp too and wants to see Hitler Jr. in the Oval Office... He had to run off right after lunch and I said "What's the hurry, late for a Clan Meeting... he said "Naw, Nazi's, I don't like their uniforms." (He was kidding) I laughed so hard I had tears...guess you had to be there Laslo is a is tough minded but he is a smart old curmudgeon too. He thinks Rush Limbaugh is some sort of Devine Oracle which is sad but he argues well. I have never seen Laslo lose an argument... it is fun to watch him work... he just escalates the passion until
the other guy gives up. Laslo doesn't really care if he's right he just likes to win. Laslo... I really like the guy a lot, but he is hard on my ego...
Christy was teaching tonight... I rented some more videos... I watched Bullworth and The Titans... Bullworth was a good movie but it had a crappy ending and The Titans was a "see it coming from a mile away" morality play but it was very well done... one of the better movies I had seen ... Denzel Washington and Will Patton were very powerful... The two kids who played the black and white guys who became best friends were very good... It was hokey and heavy handed in parts but it was good.

...They were messing with Crown Valley Road again this morning... one way out of here for about 400 people and they blocked the road...all day, they ran an escort truck back and forth 10 to 15 minutes wait each way... every one of my kids was late to school, I was even late getting Autumn to therapy...
Christy had a course to take in Lancaster and another one to teach in Burbank tonight...

...Christy is teaching again tonight so I had to pass on the ROF... too bad. Christy is making some money on this gig so it was a no-brainer...
I took Christian with me for Autumns appointment with Dr. Apell, the Orthopedist at Kaiser's Sunset office in Hollywood. Christy called Kaiser to get directions; Sunset Boulevard to Vermont left into Parking lot #15 at Building "A", well... there is no parking lot on Vermont, Parking lot #15 is between building A & C because it IS building B... I walked to building A only to find that Orthopedics is in Building C... Autumn only weighs 32 pounds but 32 pounds is a load after a while... especially if it is a bored 32 pounds that wants to walk and is pulling your hair and pulling off your glasses and squirming... I checked in at reception and she sent me to "Station #1" there is nothing to indicate any place called "Station #1", that name only has meaning to the people that work there. Damn... . He said that Autumn's braces were fine for now, they will
probably last another year... he looked at her back and said that she has some scoliosis, not bad yet but he wants to take an X-Ray next visit. I wonder if it is all the stresses she puts on her body trying so hard to walk that is pulling her spine out of whack...
I looked up and noticed that they re-named the street before Vermont Ave.. L. Ron Hubbard Avenue... I almost puked... that is like naming a street Reverend Jim Jones Boulevard... The Scientology Headquarters is directly across the street... I can remember staring at it while I was recuperating from my heart surgery... it's painted blue and gold... used to be a White-Front Store I think. I was so glad when they moved me to the other side of the building so all I had to look at was the HOLLYWOOD sign. I went to Scientology courses for two weeks...back about 1974, that was long enough for me to learn that they are some scary sum-bitches...really scary... people disappearing in the middle of the night scary...It took me a year and a half to shake loose of the bastards. They called me at home, they called me at work, they called my boss and my co-workers... it was ... intimidating. Any of you folks out there Scientologists?
Write to me and let me know how you sleep at night will ya? Brrrrrrr... Scary... just writing that makes me nervous...
Got an E-mail from my cousin Tom, he finally sent me Martha S. Vatalaro's e-mail address (well, he was close... he spelled it wrong) I have been trying to find her for years... my sister had her address but lost it, Uncle Bob had her phone Number but it was outdated... I wrote her an e-mail tonight and it bounced, I sent it again to every logical combination I could think of... I sent out 5 emails... 4 came back... I will keep my fingers crossed... If I don't hear from her I will call her. Martha is the daughter of my aunt Martha...I met her once or twice when I was very young but I don't remember her at all, I have several pictures, she was very pretty... I have never met my cousin Martha.

I took the car in to get the front struts replaced... Jeff messed around with the rear shocks too... not sure if the 'Load Leveler" is working... the shocks pump up manually but and but they don't appear to be working right.
Autumn is having more seizures... petit-mal... (Zone-out's)... they only seem to last for less than a minute... it is pretty eerie to watch... Jan Sisco and Jackie Cook both saw what appeared to be a Petit-mal while she was being checked in the Nurses office... she seems weak and he equilibrium is even further out of whack... Christy is trying to expedite the ate appointment with the Neurologist at Sunset
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, never let it fade away…
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day…
I am not sure I like this planet as much now that it has lost Perry Como…
When I picked up Autumn and Mokie I was in a bit of a rush because traffic was held up by construction, always puts me in a foul mood. I grabbed Autumn and carried her across the street (No Handicapped Parking when you pick up kids... they have three spaces when school is in session but they are blocked off when you are picking up kids (when you need them). crazy. anyway... I told Mokie to pick up the walker and take it to the van, I carried Autie and the backpack... Mokie set the walker up against the van, I opened the front door and buckled Autie in... I walked around to the front as Mokie clamored in to the van and shut the door... I backed up and almost immediately heard a crunching, "You Stupid SOB" noise, emanating from the right front wheel... (Can you guess?) Arrrgggg!!! Autumn's walker will only go in circles now... I wanted to blame Mokie or the Easter Bunny but it was my fault... in a hurry... not paying attention.

There are three things in the news have me tweaked at the moment:
-
Dodge-ball is being banned in school yards, it has been deemed politically incorrect to be teaching children, self reliance, self confidence, competitiveness, and individualism all those old-fashioned attributes are “out” and teamwork, homogeny, sharing and the self esteem of the lowest common denominator should be our primary responsibility. Like we're training sheep or raising cannon fodder or something... what's going to happen to the kids when they find out the world isn't fair and that McDonalds and boot-camp are the only places I can think of where being able to dumb down to the lowest common denominator is a positive attribute.
-
Hanging laundry on the line is verboten in affluent communities across the country, no matter that automatic cloths driers are the biggest energy hogs of any appliance you own. Laundry hanging from a clothes line is tacky, it brings down property values and implies the community is trashy…

Our Executive Branch is under the opinion that REAL AMERICANS shouldn’t have to worry themselves about conservation or be inconvenienced in any way by the energy problems plaguing the poor folks. Gasoline prices are over $2.00 a gallon here and they are prepping us in the news for it to go to $3.00 by July, so we will probably see $2.50… Is it just Cheney & Bush or are all Republicans under the impression that Americans are somehow special, we don’t have to make any concessions to reality. Let the poor folks conserve and cut back… if you can afford $3.00 a gallon for your Super Ostentatious SUV that gets 8MPG, 10 on the highway, go for it, If you can pay the gas bill go ahead and set your thermostat at 65, heat your pool, … we have Multi-Millionaires running our country… they are utterly clueless about my realities. An extra $275 bucks a month in fuel costs has an impact in my world… I just
hate the idea that my pathetic, insignificant struggles to conserve and survive on a fixed income are benefiting the wealthy and providing them with the resources to continue living as though there is nothing to be concerned about. We’ll just drill for oil in the Canadian tundra, strip mine for more coal… so what if the common folks are pawning their belongings to pay the fuel costs (It’s happening)… Real Americans can pay for it… Real Americans are above those petty concerns… If they can’t pony up the cash tell em to move to Mexico.
After getting struts replaced it's recommended that you get an alignment, there is no place here in town to get that done so I went in to Palmdale... the place I like to go was busy with a 2 hour wait so I ran a few errands and got the kids some food at McD's... I had Mike, Christian and Monica I went to Best Buy and bought an HP Printer Scanner Copier for her Birthday/Mothers Day... I got back to the shop and dropped of the car... it was only an hour wait this time but with the three kids it seemed like three...
Christy took the kids up into the mountains and they had a good time... Autumn seems fine today Christy got home at 2130 Mike is at

Christy bought this card for her Mom…
Its Mothers Day, and thanks to your advice:
I never change horses in the middle of a job worth doing,
I know the squeaky wheel never gets the worm,
I never count my chickens until I’ve walked a mile in their shoes
I remember that actions speak louder than a bird in the bush,
I never throw good money before my own two feet,
and I always count to ten before I catch my death of cold….
And you thought I wasn’t listening…
We arrived in Riverside after noon... and had a great meal... T-Bones...
(I am really pissed, I worked on this page for an hour and a half and FrontPage crashed... there is no Auto-save nothing... it's just gone... damn-it!!!)
I had a couple of political disagreements with the resident conservatives... so exasperating... they call me a "Liberal" like liberal is a dirty word... they think Bush's tax plan is going to liberate them and that the Energy Crisis is all Clinton's fault... and the Stock Market... and everything else that is wrong with the world is the fault of Tax and Spend Liberal Democrats... Well... I don't know where they get those rose colored glasses but I wish I had a pair... things look pretty grim to me...
They see the Power Crisis is a positive thing because now we can build more power plants and strip-mine more coal, ad drill for oil, never a thought to conservation or more economical vehicles or anything... hey... this is America!!! The land of limitless bounty.... Rush Limbaugh says so... the Stock Market was due to crumble anyway, it's not George's fault... the gas prices are due to OPEC, all the
stuff in the press about greedy American oil and Natural Gas producer/brokers has nothing what so ever to do with the policies of the new administration 600% profits for a gas company is their right by God... besides, they didn't do anything illegal, I heard them on CNN, They said; "We didn't do anything illegal." Must be true... makes it OK don'cha know... Bush is being portrayed as a petulant imbecile in the rest of the world, but that's fine too, we don't need the rest of the world, there are plenty of resources right here in America by God... Genesis says man has a mandate from God to reap the resources and bring the world into submission... I heard that on a Christian Radio Station (They are solidly for GW by the way)
What's good for Big Business is good for the country... Big Business cares about the bottom line... period. 60% unemployment and bread lines wouldn't phase them a bit if they were making a profit... We have people making 50k in LA who are skipping meals because they can't make ends meet... it's crazy... the cost of living is going up like it's on fire... food, fuel, clothing... everything... the cost of consumer goods is going down, Computers, cars... no one can afford them because they have to put gas in their cars at $50 a tank full. Government is EVIL
Business is Good. Don't worry though, George Walker Bush is a apostle of Ronnie "Trickle Down" Reagan... EXON will feed the hungry, General Motors will educate the young, Dow Chemical will care for the sick, and Boeing will find housing for the poor... we don't need Government, Police, Fire, that will all just take care of it self... I am scaring myself...

The girls went swimming at the pool by Grand-ma's appartment... they swam in their cloths so Karen let them wear some of her stuff... damn they were cute... this is their tough girl/hip-hop/ punk look... Mokie a Home-Girl or
what... The kids had fun... Calie got her hair done by her cousin (Craig's wife) Shawn, Christian showing off and Calie did Mikes hair..
