June 2002 Week 4 |
|
You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it. Charles Buxton Monday June 24 , 2002 Landis Came up to pick up Mike to do some work but mike was on the bus at 0625 to go to Summer School. He needs help clearing out some brush on Dick Morris's property. I said he could start at 1300 when he gets back, he said "Fine"... I think I will take Christian and Monica too. The bus got here late with Mike, I got Mike in the car and picked up Christian, they worked about three hours, got $20.00 apiece... Christian is pleased... Mike is grumpy, not sure why, "B" is grumpy too... again... I don't know why. Calie and Monica cleaned the house, I will take them to see 'Lilo and Stitch' tomorrow, I will probably take Mike and Christian too...if they want to go and pay their own way... I owe Calie and Monica for doing the housework. I made it in to see 'Minority Report' Tom Cruise did a good job, it was a good story and very suspenseful I enjoyed it a lot but there was a flaw, perhaps I missed something, some integral nuance, I don't know... the plot relies completely on the audience paying attention and, even at the late show, there was a large audience and I was distracted once or twice... perhaps that's it. The aspect of the film that they derived the movie's name from was only a minor subplot in the film. It's a dumb title anyway, hard to remember, and doesn't support the image I came away from the movie with... I will have to watch it again... This movie got better reviews than Bourne Identity, but I think Bourne Identity was better. Tuesday June 25 , 2002
Autumn woke Calie up by having a seizure. She was seizing the entire length of
her body, like she was having electrical shock therapy. It lasted a 3-4
minutes When she got home "B" was goofing around and slammed her thumb in the sliding glass door... Christy took her to Kaiser and it's chipped. Poor Autie, not her day... she will be fine, they splinted it to keep it immobilized and offer her some protection from getting it bumped. "B" seems to have some sjddmv 314 Wednesday June 26 , 2002 The RIPPIES (Really Important Presumptuous People In the Entertainment Industry) are filming down at the Arco Station, blocking traffic coming off the freeway, folks taking kids to school, folks trying to get to work. People with real lives are being prevented from going about their business by a bunch of arrogant petulant self-important pinheads... pisses me off no end, can you tell?
I mentioned to Marina down at the 76 Station that she should go see The Bourne Identity and Minority Report, she said She doesn't like Matt Damon or Tom Cruise, You don't like their acting? I asked, "No, not that, they are arrogant and <something else>" I was incredulous "I can understand not going to see an actor because you think they are lousy actors but to not see them because you think they are rude or you don't like their politics is silly, actors and actresses on a personal level are about as irrelevant as anything on this earth, they are like trained fleas, or circus elephants, who cares what they think or whether they crap on the carpet, you can still marvel at what they have been trained to do... I said, you should never confuse the actor and the character they are playing with the person behind the make-up. To deprive yourself of an opportunity to be entertained simply because you find an actors personal behavior to be distasteful is like not visiting the Grand Canyon because Arizona voted for Bush. or not buying a Ford because Henry Ford was Anti-Semitic... or not eating Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream because they were bought out by General Foods. Cops, years of training, guns, fancy patrol cars, the personification of law and justice in America, Directing traffic on a 'Location Shoot' If I were a cop, to be sent to a movie shoot and be told what to do by some bimbo with purple hair, a halter top and construction boots, to be posted by the Third Assistant to the Associate Director in Charge of Set Integrity, like guard dogs staked out in a junk yard. would be demeaning to the in'th degree. I hope they hate every minute of it... the cops can't complain to the movie people so they take it out on the poor bastards trying to get their kids to school on time
Calie and I went to Otto's... when will I learn!!! That place is terrible! Tp paraphrase an old boss, They may charge too much, but the food is lousy and the service is indifferent.... $17.85 for a Denver omelet and a 'Childs' pancake. The egg part of my omelet was so thinned out it tasted like parchment, the American cheese reverted back to it's original state (milk) when heated the ham was crunchy... If Karen's Kitchen came up here they would put Otto's out of business in a month. I told Calie that the next time I say I am going to Otto's for her to tell me "You can go if you want to, but take me home first, I don't want to listen to you bitch about for an hour."
I took four of the kids to see 'Lilo & Stitch', I went too, it was pretty good, at least as good as the reviewers said. I liked the silly plot, and the fact that the moral message wasn't laid on with a trowel... The Stock Market tried to crumble again today... this is crazy. We have our president out there fighting 'EVIL' while the country is going to hell in a hand basket.
It's really making me nervous. The pundits are still talking like this is just a phase, a cycle... the Stock Market goes Up and it goes down... What Me Worry? I think that this is a serious melt down of a conservative economic philosophy. We need someone who can really take charges:
But that's just me... I am so far out of the loop that I haven't a clue what's really going on. I think the pro's do and I think they are frightened too. There is no leadership on this issue coming from the Oval Office... I hope folks see that. Posted some genealogy on Barrett today http://members.tripod.com/petedaggett/barrett.htm Thursday June 27 , 2002 I took Calie and Monica out to Hometown Buffet, I hate that place, not totally sure why, I am a bit of a snob about it I guess, but there are some pretty demented people frequenting that place. The kids love it though, I try to sublimate ( Always screw this word up, I pronounce it wrong sub-lim'-in-ate not sub-le' mate don't know why I do that.) the fact that they don't eat more than about $.70 worth of food, Mokie ate a spoon full of Macaroni and cheese and a hand full of French fries, she went back for seconds and came back with a scoop of mashed potatoes .. no gravy.. no butter .. no salt... strange kid. She had two bowls of ice-cream though, chocolate with chocolate chips on top. Calie had spaghetti and French fries... no desert. I went to take Christy's clothes into the laundry, there was a pretty young pregnant Mexican girl there, as I was walking out I heard her order a pizza for her husband to pick up, she said she wanted a large with pepperoni on one half and pineapple and jalapeņo's on the other, I stopped and asked her "Did I hear that right, pineapple and jalapeno pizza?" she smiled and nodded... I said "You're pregnant, right?" She laughed.
Friday June 28 , 2002 "B"'s Social Worker came today, so we had another cleaning frenzy, Christy took care of Laundry, Calie cleaned the kitchen floor on her hands and knees, I will do something special with her tomorrow. I got so involved in cleaning I forgot to pick up the kids, I was twenty minutes late... damn, I have done that about three times this year, mostly it only affected. I off on a rant with Jerry, getting all upset again... silly of me. I read a good article in the LA Times that straightened me out... I posted it on my Rants page... under the 'Hot Buttons' tab. I have some races to watch tomorrow. Christian went to Pismo Beach with the Parkers, poor kid is going to miss a lot of TV and PlayStation time... Lucky little critter. Saturday June 29 , 2002 Ho humm, Ricky Carmichael 1-1, James Stewart 1-1 It will be awesome when they get to race one another some day, but I can wait, they deserve their time in the sun for now... head to head racing for those two is going to be very challenging. I hope Carmichael has a bit more grace when Bubba moves up than McGrath had when Rick moved up. I
got a couple excellent e-mails from Jerry today. Lest you think he is the ogre I
have made him out to be in this forum... here's his comments on the article I
posted regarding Atheism and the brouhaha with "Under God" We
are down to one Tranxine pill, the 'Hold-over' tablets have run out, we called
the prescription in 9 days ago. Christy called the Pharmacy to see if the
prescription was ready, it isn't she talked to the Pharmacist, a lady named
Wong. She asked if we could come in and get another 4 doses (12
This person was pointed into the wrong profession somewhere along the line, she should be working for the DMV or City Hall, Permit Department, or the Post Office... I think we can rest assured that no one will die because she didn't follow proper procedures, some on may die because she is incapable of making an autonomous decision though. I have met too many people like her in my life. One of these days I am going to punch out one of them, automatons have no business interfacing with real people, they need to be way back somewhere on the assembly line, or down in the file room, or running the copy machine.. I took the kids to get hot-dogs and then we went to the park, Christy came and picked up Autumn and took her to Urgent Care... I stayed with Mokie, Calie and "B" for a while then we went home, Christy practically followed us up the driveway, there was no wait. in Urgent Care... very odd. Sunday June 30 , 2002 Christy took the girls to a birthday party for her friend Bonnie, I kept the boys. Mike was at Thomas's so really I only had "B". Mike called to ask to stay longer, I said No, so he asked if Thomas could come over, I said OK... they took off on bikes at about Noon... I picked them up at the Acton Market about 1600 and went in to Staples to get some ink for my printer and pick up some dinner. I got 'Chinese'... it was pretty bad, had to wait for it too... I will probably not go back ther, the place used to be pretty good, but this is the third time I have not enjoyed the food... I
have worked on Genealogy most of the day, trying to figure out some of the
Daggett's , My mother had two friends up in Ashland named Julia and Marion
Daggett when she was a kid, I have found Julia with the help of Sally Ferris up
in Presque Isle, but I haven't found Marion yet, Julia is a Well, this so boring it's putting me to sleep...
