Now I know I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!

Homer Simpson

I went to see Superman, instead of Superman Returns, it should have been called Superman, the Resurrection... or the Second Coming... not to say I didn't enjoy it but the plot was just a bit too biblical and the Good Vs Evil backdrop was a bit heavy handed. The kid playing Superman did a passable Christopher Reeve imitation... actually seemed to put a bit of himself into it toward the end...

Fixed grandpa's tire, patched the damn shower again... the first patch broke... the whole shower needs to be replaced.

Christy is still very tired and sore, the drains seem to be doing well, perhaps we can get them removed sooner than next week.

We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers. A man thinking or working is always alone, let him be where he will.

Henry David Thoreau, naturalist and author (1817-1862)

I read a Newsweek article on Superman Returns, comparing him to Jesus or the Jewish Golem... cracked me up, I guess my insights aren't as revolutionary as I thought they were.

No one carries showers, they all have to be ordered... rats, I will order one from Home Depot on Tuesday...

I took Christian in for his sports physical... pretty basic, they check for hernias and the conventional number and placement of appendages... He has a bit of scoliosis in his back and it seems to be improving.

I was talking to some of the guys down at the Mini Mart about one thing and another and the subject swayed toward politics and I had no idea where any of them stood, made me a bit nervous. I have very strong views, as you can tell, but except for this webpage I keep them to myself. So, when one of the fellas said "I have been a Republican all my life but I won't vote Republican in 08 unless the current bunch is in prison." Everyone agreed with him... wheew... this county really is Democratic... it bothered me that so many voted for Bush last time but I figured out that it was because they are also, almost to a man, vets, and they hated Kerry... I think Kerry was OK, but he just had too much superficial baggage... Dean may have carried the day but Kerry didn't stand a chance.

I hate politics but I understand it, Politics is about winning at any cost, in other countries people die but the way it is played in America is about as dirty a game as racketeering and prostitution. My brother in law was an honest politician, and I saw from a distance what honesty will get you... it will get you beaten. I don't believe there is any way in heaven or hell that the best man for the job can get elected without selling his soul. The 2008 election will be a bloodbath... I really fear for the country, we are already standing virtually alone in the world and by the end of 2008 we will be broke too. Bush's War without end will have expanded to Iran and Syria, Afghanistan will be abandoned, Korea... who knows... The economy seems to be strong only because it is being buttressed by foreign loans. More jobs are leaving, fewer people have viable jobs...

Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.

Benjamin Franklin, statesman, author, and inventor (1706-1790)

Christy was complaining about sharp pains in her leg on Monday, it was worse yesterday and today she could barely move she said, "I have a DVT Deep Venous Thrombosis. We had an appointment at the Ione Clinic and they sent her straight to Colville for a Doppler Ultrasound... the large vein behind her knee is completely occluded, we picked up 10 Lovenox shots, one shot in the stomach twice a day for 5 days, she is back on Coumadin, a blood thinner and two pain medications... this sucks, ecstatic over the pathology report and looking forward to the drains coming out one day and then this...

"Comparing information and knowledge is like asking whether the fatness of a pig is more or less green than the designated hitter rule."

David Guaspari (07/06/1948 – ) US writer, mathematician

Christy feels awful and I was very concerned this evening when she told me she had some shortness of breath. DVT can cause an Pulmonary Embolism and that's bad... she insists that it was just because she had to move quickly... I probably should have called 911 anyway but she assures me it's OK...

Christy and I had a long talk with the kids this morning... I doubt that anything will come of it but we feel better.

I got the Van it's checkup and oil change, I fixed a drawer that Autumn broke... not much else productive today.

There is a tragic clash between Truth and the world. Pure undistorted truth burns up the world.

Nikolai Berdyaev, philosopher (1874-1948)

Christy's leg was bad and she was getting winded easily. We went in to our appointment at the clinic and they did an EKG and measured the oxygen in her blood, seemed ok but they were very concerned, they called for a helicopter to take her to Spokane but it was already in route to Spokane and it would be 45 minutes before they could even head our way so they sent her by ambulance.

I followed about 40 minutes later, they did a CT Scan and found no clots in her lungs but she was so weak and in so much pain they kept her there, I got home about 1130

Downriver Days started today in Ione, kids are working there and there is a parade for Autumn to watch Tomorrow

Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand.

Rush

Christy is still in Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.  The clot did not cause an embolism in her lung but it was pretty scary for a while. They are trying to get her stabilized. Her potassium level is real low, they need to find a pain medication that is effective... (can't stay on Morphine very long). She is on a Heparin drip to thin her blood down. She seems fine at the moment and is in reasonably good spirits but I suspect that the Morphine may be contributing to that.

She is really being put through the wringer and it isn't over yet. We meet with the Oncologist on the 14th and get the appointment with the Radiologist and he or she will prescribe the regimen.

It hit 100 here for about 3 days running earlier this week, Mike at the Mini Mart says it was 101 last Tuesday... it was beautiful up here today... high 70's. The kids an I went to Down River Days in Ione and had a pretty good time. They will be taking Snowmobiles and getting up to about 60 mph and trying to get across the river... supposed to be a pretty awesome sight to behold... I will take pictures unless Christy calls for me to go pick her up.

Christy is in for another day of testing and Dr. visits at the hospital.

A ship ought not to be held by one anchor, nor life by a single hope.

Epictetus, philosopher (c. 60-120)

I went to Ione about 4 times today delivering kids and watching the Watercross... which is pretty impressive... I took some videos and some pictures... looks like a lot of fun.

It was very cool, just out of the 60's it is now 2100 and it is 55... feels great, hope I can sleep.

I take Christian and Shon to the airport and I am hoping I can pick up Christy on the way back tomorrow... I will be staying there till I can...

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

I got the boys to the plane on time, we even had time for breakfast and a trip up to Deaconess Rm. 702 to see Christy.

When I got back to Christy after dropping off the boys Gary, Suzie, Blaine & Karen were there talking to her... very nice.

I got back to Metaline about 14:30 after shopping at Wall-Mart... I played some pool with Gary and had dinner.

There was no way I could stay down there... not with all the in-laws, don't know what I was thinking.
