July 2003, Week 2 |
|
Monday July 7 , 2003 The reason men lie is because women ask so many questions. Unknown Christy bought a pool for the kids a while back, put it on lay away at Wall-Mart until I can get a level spot out back... I have stalled as long as I can, looks like I have to start on it today... I need to order up some sand and something to keep the sand where I put it, I'll use railroad ties I guess. She also ordered a swing set... We got the sand delivered going to be a bit of work to get it all leveled out though... Tuesday July 8 , 2003 And he learned almost too late that man is a feeling creature, and because of it, the greatest in the universe. And he learned too late for himself that man has to find his own way to make his own mistakes. There can't be any gift of perfection from outside ourselves. That when man seeks such perfection, he'll find only death, fire, loss, disillusionment and the end of everything that's gone forward. Man has always sought an end to the toil and misery. It cannot be given, it has to be achieved. There is hope, but it has to come from inside, from man himself. Great quote... the amusing thing is that it is from a movie called "IT CONQUERED THE WORLD" the quote is actually a eulogy given by Peter Graves, the good guy, for Lee Van Cleef, the bad guy after he was killed by a monster that looked like a huge Clausen Pickle, with horns. I just joined Truth or Fiction... $19.95 a year... I am doing it because I want them to stay on the air... I love that site... saves me lots of research time and embarrassing forwards. I took "B" to Doane, "B" seemed responsive enough... he's the same old deceiver he always was, nothing has changed, we need to wait about a month to see if the new medication works. We went to Borders Book store and picked up some books for Autumn. We got a notice from the IRS today, they seem to think we owe them about $1200.00 from 2001 they say:
Got the pool, we'll set it up tomorrow if all goes well... Wednesday July 9 , 2003 The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over its government. Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd US President (1882-1945) All didn't go well, I finally got the sand leveled, I thought I was done with it yesterday but when we put a couple inches of water in the pool this morning it was about 3 inches too low on one side, I emptied the pool and moved it off the sand and the kids and I re-leveled it. It looks OK now. I ordered some water to be delivered tomorrow morning... Kids are excited. Thursday July 10 , 2003 He who would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself. Thomas Paine, philosopher and writer (1737-1809)
Water came at 1000 today, icy cold, kids haven't been out of the pool since the truck arrived. Autumn got in when she got home from school and promptly turned blue... she has no insulating fat... she was shivering so bad I was a little concerned. Went to the ROF, had a good time, laughed a lot, no political discussions except Joe and I talked a bit, we are on the same wavelength so there was no arguing... Water-tank is empty. Well pump isn't pumping. Electrical or mechanical ???? I will call the American Water-well tomorrow... and call for some more water... Worst Case Scenario=new well pump The story behind this cartoon is very upsetting... What everyone must understand is that the reality behind freedom of the press, even under the best of situations, extends only to the owners of the press. The Bush administration has allowed the owners to expand their holdings to the point where a very few very influential men control virtually everything we see, read and hear in the media. From Daryl Cagle: The editor at the Scranton Times refused to publish this cartoon by Dennis Draughon. Most political cartoonists are given broad editorial freedom in drawing their cartoons -but not all. I asked Dennis about this "killed cartoon" and got this response, Friday July 11 , 2003 INFIDEL, n. a person who does not acknowledge your God. WordNet Princeton Univ. We ordered some more water, the tank is almost full but I don't know what's wrong with the well yet because Randy from American Water Well didn't make it up here... it's 1900, he won't make it up... maybe tomorrow. Damn Taurus is crapping out again... I call it vapor-locking but Jeff thinks not. It runs fine when it's cool, when it gets hot it quits running altogether... it sounds like a diesel engine at a very rough idle. I kept thinking that I could find some pattern to it but I can't. I thought it was only with the Air Conditioner, then I thought it was only when I was getting below a 1/4 tank, then I thought it was the vented air cap wasn't venting, then I gave up. Saturday July 12 , 2003 No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God. George Bush Randy called last night to apologize for not making it up here... nice to deal with someone with character. He is committed to a job in San Louis Obispo today, he will be up on Monday... that's fine. I brought the boys home from Lancaster, his buddy D. is in big trouble for not telling his Mom he was spending the night at M's... so silly. They have the common sense and judgment of chickens on the freeway. I read an article in the NYTimes about a group calling itself Brights Interesting concept, the author expounded on his theory that there are more folks who have no religion or are Agnostic, atheist, humanists, freethinkers, rationalists, skeptics, secular humanists, naturalists, existentialists, materialists, igtheists (Whatever that is), objectivists, etc... His group is attempting to place all these folks under one umbrella, ( I am sure they are all thrilled) I find the word 'bright' to be a bit odd, and a bit off-putting for bright folks who happen to believe in one Deity or another. The concept is sound though, it would interesting to see the Non Religious among us become an entity and have a say in the discussion, I doubt that it will happen though mainly because the different groups mentioned above have such diverse agendas that they would never be able to focus on any one path. I hope it works for them though... Sunday July 13 , 2003 How can you have order in a state without religion? For, when one man is dying of hunger near another who is ill of surfeit, he cannot resign himself to this difference unless there is an authority which declares 'God wills it thus.' Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet. Napoleon Bonaparte Today brought another disappointment, "B" has been stealing Meds again... I'm extremely disappointed in him. We can't take much more, apparently every time we turn our back he goes in to our bedroom and checks to see if the safe is locked. He has been creeping around for a couple days... John McLinden has zeroed in on a new revelation, Politics has become much easier since Bush entered the realm, truth, facts, accuracy... none of that stuff is important any more, all you have to do is profess to BELIEVE! If you BELIEVE then you can't be held responsible if what you've said turns out to be 100% bullshit! Religion and Politics have a lot in common don't they. Bush and Blair have set the precedent, if you lie all you have to do is point at one of your loyal minions and have them fall on their sword. 15000 Iraqi's dead, hundreds of American and British dead... well it's not my fault, I'm not responsible, I was misinformed, but I BELIEVED so you can't blame me. Oh, and by the way, did you hear that The Syrians are about to attack Israel, they have an army amassed at the border, they have an arsenal of missiles with atomic warheads, A' Qaeda is hiding out there and so is Osama, and they barbeque and eat Christian children. I know this is true because I BELIEVE it! Oh and let me tell you about the Iranians.... The Sunday Doonesbury cartoon sure hit home... I couldn't resist putting it here... sorry it's such a large download. |
