Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.
-Albert Schweitzer, philosopher, physician, musician, Nobel laureate (1875-1965)

I have to take "B"'s game back to Toys R Us, we took the sticker and cellophane wrapper off a brand new CD Game and there was an instruction manual from another game and no CD... $55 game... really upsetting not only to poor "B" who was really looking forward to playing it but to me who will have to stay in line to get it replaced!

Christy took Christian and the girls over to Bonnies to get some testing done by a friend of Christy's who is doing some sort of research on Foster and Adopted children. "B" and I went out to get him a haircut and do a little computer shopping.

The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.

H.L. Mencken, writer, editor, and critic (1880-1956)

I bought a new PC today... An HP, I forgot what a pain in the butt it is to transfer files... I tried using a Flash Card... very tedious, I tried hooking up my Network... couldn't do it, so I called Joe... we worked till about 2200 and failed, I called Linksys for technical support.. the guy was a twit... I said goodbye... Christy's PC could link to mine but I couldn't see her, while reading Error Reports online talking about firewalls it dawned on me what the problem was, I was using Norton on my two PC's and Christy is using McAffe... I turned of the firewall on my PC's and, I worked till about 0200 and finally got to the point where I could see Christy's PC but I couldn't share data... I went to bed.

Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later.

Frederick P. Brooks, Jr. [The Mythical Man-Month]

I was still dead in the water,,, actually had the Ethernet up and working for a while but it kept crashing... I took the kids out and dropped them off at movies. I went to a ll the PC stores I could find to get some other software and finally found a crude program called PC Relocator... when I got it hom I discovered it wouldn't do the job, it would probably work fine if I was just going to 'clone' the Sony but that's not what I'm doing.

I picked up the kids and messed with the PC's till 0100 and gave up..

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I met Joe at Otto's for breakfast... I owe him a 12 course dinner for all he's done for me but this will have to do... I really enjoyed the break until Christy called and told me that Mike was being an.... Mike was being Mike... Apparently my breakfast with Joe was infringing on his 'hanging time' with his homies...

Joe has the upgraded version of the Relocator program... I tried it and it created a mess so I undid it

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

Mike hasn't been here today and he is spending the night with his friends... I do not feel warm and fuzzy about that...

I called Linksys [the manufacturer of the router I am trying to make work and talked to a pleasant enough young lady from India for a while. She told me that there was nothing she could do because the Wireless Router I have isn't designed for file sharing... i.e. I am wasting my time and hers... thank you very much,,, the hell with it... I connected the PC's with a Crossover Cable and it works fine...

Christy the kids and I stayed up late and watched the ball drop in Times Square... and we all had sparkling cider and popped off some party favors and then went to bed.
