December 2004, Week 2 |

Monday December 6 , 2004 Wrongs are often forgiven, but contempt never is. Our pride remembers it forever. Lord Chesterfield, statesman and writer (1694-1773)
Still no word on the loan application, it's still with some committee or another... Still no word on Christy's Taurus either...it's been in the transmission shop for over a month... I don't know what the deal is. Don't really care but it would be nice to get it back someday. Tuesday December 7 , 2004 Pearl Harbor Day Just heard that the Taurus will be done on Wednesday, they have been stonewalling. Apparently the shop that we took it to in Virginia wrote another Warrantee and they had to get that straightened out before they could bill Santa Fe for the work they are doing... sounds like BS to me but I guess I don't really care as long as I get it back soon. Talked to my Financial Consultant D K Doolin, we talked about my concerns for the Ameriocan Economy and what we should do to alter my portfolio to protect it against the shrinking dollar and and the fact that prices will be rising drastically for most of the stuff we take for granted... I have posted an article below that expresses my pessimism far better than I can. Wednesday December 8 , 2004 If you torture data sufficiently, it will confess to almost anything. Fred Menger, chemistry professor (1937- ) I bought Genius Loves Company, Ray Charles's last album... it's beautiful... Duets with Bonnie Rait, Elton John, James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Willie Nelson, Gladys Knight, Johnny Mathis, Van Morrison, Diana Krall, Norah Jones... A quote from James Taylor; "Out of my five all time favorite artists, the top three are Ray" For me, it seems like I can chronicle my life with his songs... When I say technobabble, this is what I mean. The following comes from the online help for Microsoft's SQL Server (a database application); if you aren't intimately involved in using it this is just gibberish.
Thursday December 9 , 2004 When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it? Eleanor Roosevelt, diplomat and writer (1884-1962) I went to the dentist to get a broken tooth filed down so it wasn't as jagged. It needs a crown but I will have to wait till next year because this years benefits are gone... I called on the loan and still can't talk to anyone... I called on the car that was supposed to be done yesterday and they said to wait till tomorrow... it seems as though everything that is going on that affects me personally is not under my control... I heard a guy on the TV say last night that the conservative half of America is only interested in the News that supports it's bias and preconceptions, he said it far better than I just did... "American's want the media to validate their own personal World Views." Journalists and Reporters are risking their lives to being back the truth and report on it, but America only wants to hear about hot-button crap, they aren't interested in the thousands of people on both sides being maimed and killed because the Conservative media has convinced them that anything and everything that they hear that is negative is the product of the Liberal Media and nothing but a pack of lies to distract us from what is really important, (The yet to be defined) Family Values, Gay Marriage, Prayer in Schools, Illegal Aliens, Welfare Cheats, In God We Trust remaining on our money, Stem Cell Research, Abortions... the litany of superficial distractions is endless. To me the priorities are:
Conservative Media wants easily defined gut clenching sensationalism. It's easy to report, brings in viewers and builds controversy... all good for business. They don't want to know what really happened in Falluja they just want to perpetuate the Administrations 'spin' I found out why I couldn't talk to anyone... the loan was disapproved, the main guy said it was because my house is a 'manufactured home'.... I think that they expect interest rates to go up soon and they don't want to waste their time and money on small loans... don't know why for sure, probably never will. It's probably for the best. Christy says we can get out from under the majority of =our debt in about 2 years if we tighten our belts... I think that's best anyway. I went to Lois Taylor's house for the ROF, it was good for me to get out for a little while.
Friday December 10 , 2004 Being rich is having money; being wealthy is having time. Stephen Swid, executive Still no car, lost the loan, only one more week of school, It's not been the week I thought it would be... by a long shot... glad it's almost over. I took Christian to Shon's and then Monica out to Wall-Mart to buy a shirt. I also bought myself a new Timex... I have been without my watch for a week and it's making me crazy. So I bought a new one knowing full well that tomorrow morning the old watch will magically appear. Saturday December 11 , 2004 Tolerance of dissent is the hallmark of a mature party, and it is well past time for the Republican Party to grow up. Senator John McCain
Calie, Monica, Autumn and Christy are going to a banquet for the school at the Lancaster Church... Calie insisted on a new dress, this is the one she and her friend Alyssa picked out... what happened to my baby... This is so strange, Calie has always been a beautiful girl, when did she grow up? What happened to the little Michelin Baby that we brought home 13 years ago. She was a pudgy little ball when we got her, she used to fall asleep on my chest, she would crawl into bed with us almost every night until she was about 6.... life goes inexorably, relentlessly on... Monica still refuses to wear 'Girly Girly Clothes' It's a shame too because with a little grooming and some nice clothes she would give Calie a run for her money, Monica has an exotic look that she hides under her severe hairdo and sweat-shirt.
Sunday December 12 , 2004 Treat the other man's faith gently; it is all he has to believe with. His mind was created for his own thoughts, not yours or mine. Henry S Haskins Articles I read this week (HERE) |
