"...numerous market research studies have concluded that what Americans truly love about SUVs is not their invulnerability or their high seating position. What they love is the sheer wastefulness of these things. They send a message that says 'I don't care about anybody else, I'm using as much space, as much steel, and as much damn fuel as I want. It's a free country and you can't stop me!' And it turns out Americans love saying that!"

I plan to take the kids to Placerita Park and to run a few errands, I needed to get hold of the DMV to ask if I need to bring the Motorcycle etcetera... but they are on a DMV Holliday.

A Police Detective came to the door, scared me to death... All I could think is "Mike, what the hell have you done now." but it was about something else... apparently they have a girl in custody who was in possession of a stolen car, she apparently told them that a guy named "Earl" had paid her to transport the car to his place in the valley... she showed them a check with his name on it... the check is a fake, name doesn't exist.  Wheew... doesn't involve me or mine...

I have asked the kids to pick up the house before we go to the park... it may be Tuesday before we get to go.

We made it out of here about 12:00... the park is dry, no water all the way back up the canyon... I have never seen the creek completely dry this time of year. Christy is still pretty sick, she has her English Composition Class tomorrow, she may not be able to stick it out though, she has canceled the teaching in the afternoon.

Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.

Don Marquis (1878-1937) - Archy and Mehitabel, 1927

DMV today... not a happy happenstance... got to be done though. I called the DMV to see if I needed to take the bike in for a test or something, after trying to explain to the clerk what I wanted she finally got exasperated and asked me for my Drivers License Number. She said "Why do want to come in again?" I said "To get my Motorcycle 'Class M1 License'"  She said "According to my screen you already have a class "M" License". I said "Well, never mind then, thank you for your time, and please cancel my appointment." Then in true DMV Logic she said "We can't cancel appointments on the day of the appointment because we don't permit "same day" appointments. Back in the good old days there was a stamp on the back of the license that said "Motorcycle Permitted" today there is a tiny code in the upper right that says: CLASS: DM1 Silly me

I went to Kaiser to see if I could get my glasses fixed... no, but I have an appointment for the 9th to get my eyes examined... I hope they can fix it so I can read. The lenses are so scratched I can't see anything out of them, I made the mistake of putting them in the saddle bag of the motorcycle wrapped in a towel, they came unencumbered by the towel and vibrated on the bottom of the bag and now they are ruined.

Christy went to class in the morning and to Kaiser in the afternoon, when she got there they called an ambulance ant took her to the emergency room, she has something called "Reactive Airway & Bronchitis". They gave her breathing treatments and a shot and sent her home...

I rode my bike down to Tony's house nice ride, only 60 miles round trip but it felt good. I am anxious to get to Arizona.

God has no religion.

Now there is something to contemplate...

The couch came... sorta. Christy called to see when the delivery would be made and they said mater-of-factly "Sorry Mam, your order wasn't loaded on the truck today, try calling back tomorrow." Christy said, "Well that's fine, the salesman promised that it would be delivered today, I want my money back, I will be down to pick up a money order for the amount of purchase in about 45 minutes." (Why can't I think that quickly) They called back in about 5 minutes and said the order would be delivered today between 4-6PM. When the couch got here it wasn't blue, it is green... looks sort of pretty. But Christy got mad so they took $150.00 off the price and gave us free delivery... (After the delivery guys left she said she preferred the green, there was no green on the showroom floor)

I took Mokie on a series of errands, she is a lot of fun to take shopping, she doesn't bug me for stuff or complain about being bored or tired... Mokie is cool.

Mike is acting out again, I don't know what's going on with him... He is tormenting the kids, like a bully. He seems to think that he can do or say anything he wants and they have to take it because he's big and they're little. He needs to bolster his self esteem by picking on people and intimidating them into doing his bidding... it is really tiresome, I am not sure how much more of this I can take. I don't think he knows that he's got a problem, he can't seem to conceptualize reality.

Thursday April 4, 2002

I got my Supplement to Thomas Doggett of Marshfield Mass and William Daggett of Saco Maine from the Palmdale Library (They got it from up around San Francisco) yesterday and took it straight to the shop to get it Xeroxed...  I picked it up this afternoon. I wish I had the real book but It's just for reference so a Xerox copy is just fine.

Christy went to school and tried to teach this afternoon... she had to bail out after about 20 minutes... she can't breath and her gasping and coughing was disturbing the Panel she was on... (Kidding)... they sent her home.

Friday April 5, 2002

Christy is teaching again today, 0800 - 1400... I don't know how she's doing it. Spring Break is a pain kids are really driving me batty, I told them I would take them to the park or a movie if they would pick up the house... they ignored me... so I spent most of the day on the PC doing genealogy.

Saturday April 6, 2002

I have had my bike for over a week and I have ridden it exactly 3 times for a grand total of 130 miles... exasperating. The kids are in school next week so I should be able to ride a few times.

Christy is still pretty sick, any exertion at all starts her to coughing.

I have been digging into a problem in my genealogy project. I have a G-G-Grandfather, Nehemiah Preble. I thought I had figured out who his parents were but I found out today I was wrong... I wish I lived back in New England for situations like this research by snail mail from 3200 miles away is a pain in the butt... I have access to an LDS Church out here and it looks like I will have to go down there and learn how to use their resources...

Sunday April 7, 2002

I will take the kids to the movie today, they want to see "Clockstoppers"... I will watch it with them I guess...

I got there one hour early... no, not because of the time change I went to the wrong theater... I should have gone to the one on Palmdale Boulevard but I went to the one at the Mall... I had been looking at three theaters and changed my mind three times then I just got confused about which theater was playing the movie at which time... damn. The movie was not so bad that I felt like getting up and leaving or so good that I have any inclination to see it again...

I was feeling pretty tired at the movie, almost fell asleep...By 1800 I was feeling a little poorly... By 2000 I felt like something had sucked all the energy out of me... By 2200 I couldn't stay awake any longer... I think there is a strong possibility I have contracted Christys "Virtual Death Flu"
