Too much sanity may be madness. And maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be!

Miguel de Cervantes, writer (1547-1616)

Off to see Dr. Pearle, he walked in and said "Any discomfort?" He said "Let me see the incision." I lifted my shirt. He said "Looks good, that will be all, you can go now"... hell I could have don that on the phone.

I signed up for the Wal-Mart CostCo Clone... nice store. It is identical to CostCo right down to the picture of a Polish Sausage at the food counter. Not sure I like that.

Christy had meetings all day today, she went to see Sandy and talk with her social worker too.

Some great articles at http://www.smirkingchimp.com/  It has a decidedly Democratic/Independent flavor... but then so do I. I read this line in one of the responder's e-mails:

"Personally, I don't give a damn about the level of allegiance to the Democratic Party shown by Wes Clark or any of the other candidates. The party should support the candidates, not the other way around."

What a concept... It has always bothered me that Politicians will openly chastise others of their ilk for not "following the Party Line" as though the people who elected them to office shouldn't be taken into consideration or that all their office meant was a Vote. If that's what a Politician is all about then what the hell do we need them for? If the "Party" is pulling the strings then let's get rid of the Party. Anyone with the ability to raise their hand and say Yea or Nay could be a Senator. I want the person I voted for to vote his conscience and I want him to vote up or down on a Bill because that's what his constituents want, not because it's what the Party wants.

I got this in an e-mail from a Conservative friend of mine, I believe this is supposed to be a wry condemnation of Musical Theater.

"In musicals, everyone you meet in the street will know all the words to the song and all the dance steps."

It occurs to me that Republicans do not 'get' musicals. Thinking back to conversations I have had with friends at work it seems to hold true that, generally speaking, literalists tend to have a hard time with concepts bordering on surreal... and Musicals are surreal. Hair, Grease, Chicago, Annie, My Fair Lady, La Mancha, ... The men like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood because the concepts are simple and well defined and there are good guys and bad guys. the Women like romantic stories with tragic endings... There are no morally convoluted anti-heroes, no gray areas and to be conflicted about. Now the hard part for me is to work out the conflict that I like that stuff too... I like it all.

Democrats are called the Tax-and-spend-party, well I think it's fair to call the Republicans the Cut-tax-and-spend-anyway party
