All are lunatics, but he who can analyze his delusion is called a philosopher. Ambrose Bierce, writer (1842-1914) Friday March 1, 2002 Autumn was late to school today... I listened to a description of what life was like for the woman who drowned her five children in Texas. Why is it that these sort of atrocities are committed by people whose dominant identity is "Christian". This woman appears to have been totally dominated by her Fundamentalist Christian husband. Had five children, diagnosed with PPD after the third, had to home-school her kids because the schools were evil, she was a trained nurse but she couldn't work because her husband wanted a "traditional marriage" ie; he worked she stayed home, no affiliation with any church, read and interpreted the bible at home, isolated from friends, family and the community Saturday March 2, 2002 Christy took all the girls to church, She dropped Monica off and went back to the church with the other three girls... Mike went to his girlfriends house. She will pick up Mike... I watched a Motorcycle race. Good race for about 5 minutes then it was a parade, Ricky Carmichael came in 1st and 8th, amazing... but boring. I ate some Chinese food and watched a movie called "Ride with the Devil", it stared the same kid that starred in "Wonder Boys", I had seen the end of it a long time ago on "Starz". It is a pretty good movie, it reminded me of "The Outlaw Josey Wales", a lot more in the real world though. It is a harsh movie with a lot of heart... Garrison Keillor is coming on the radio with the Prairie Home Companion, there is hope for the world as long as he is still on the air. The Left hand column has a "Station Listings" button... the Prairie Home companion isn't for everyone I guess, I have met a few folks who are indifferent to it and even one or two that thought it was awful... but I love it. It takes me back to another time, sitting with my grandfather up in Ashland, Maine listening to a baseball game through the static on his Philco Radio, Watching Ed Sullivan with my family. PHC is the Grand Ole Opry, Ed Sullivan, Sid Caesar Christys church affairs ran a little ove, about 3 hours over. I went to get Mike at 1900. Christy got home about 2230
Sunday March 3, 2002 Many years ago, when I was sick with the flu or something, I started reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy; by Douglas Adams’s, a book I had started to read a half dozen times before, I guess I had to be sick and desperate for entertainment to get past the first chapter… I am one of those silly people who get addicted to things that make me laugh, I couldn’t stop reading till I finished all of his books. One of the gimmicks he used was the emergency propulsion unit on their space ship, the “Improbability Drive”. When the hero’s of the book would get into a situation where there was no hope of survival the Improbability Drive would take them to another reality. I feel like I am flitting from one reality to another several times a day. The value of Bill Gates’s holdings diminished by $6,000,000,000.00 last year, but he is still the wealthiest man in the world with $52,800,000,000.00. George Bush has set up a Shadow Bureaucratic Government… no one knows who or where they are but the jobs rotate on a monthly basis. Huh? Hindu’s and Moslems are setting each other on fire. Gary Condit, a married Democratic Congressman from Fresno (One of the most vehement in his condemnation of Clinton) is running for re-election after an intern he had been sleeping with disappeared and is presumed murdered… He may win, it is a Democratic District. A Judge in Sacramento California is running unopposed even though he is under indictment for child abuse and possession of child pornography. Three days of snow and ice in East Texas and the concept of Global Warming is being ridiculed instead of embraced because the ignorant pin-heads don’t understand that this sort of climatic anomaly is what Global Warming is all about… Then there is the revelation that the Defense Department has announced that they've decided to put out false news stories if it serves the natural interest, out of its wonderfully Orwellian "Office of Strategic Influence." (Thanks Jack, I stole this one from your site) ...and I see nothing wonderful about it... and it is Orwellian and it frightens me. Big Brother was Big Business and Corporate America has forgotten what this country is supposed to be all about. They have gotten arrogant about their place in society... how much longer are we going to sit back and take it from the Enron, Anderson, Global Crossing, ATT, damn... the list is endless. The CEO-COO-CFO-elite that are incompetent... over compensated. The Presidents of Enron were both either crooks or incompetent. The accountants have betrayed their own companies in an attempt to give them what they want... it's a bad joke. The only potential positive side of all this is, I hope, the economy should come out of this stronger because of it. Now we have to vote the stupid greedy politicians out of offive that turned a blind eye and open hand to the companies that have screwed us.
